MidSouth FC has joined forces with Bartlett SC and Arlington SA to form SC Memphis in the U11 girls age group. This weekend the top 25 players in the U11 girls age group between the 3 clubs will play games against Tennessee Soccer Club’s top U11 girls teams in Jackson, TN.
Between the 3 clubs there are 64 girls in the U11 girls age group and the clubs held tryouts earlier this spring to select two top groups. The groups got together for a training session and then will play games against other top competition from Nashville this weekend. The idea going forward is the clubs will continue to work together to provide opportunities for the top players in age groups to train and play together more often as they get older. Teams from Memphis and the surrounding area can then compete with other top clubs around the state, region, and nation.
Within the past year Tennessee Soccer Club was formed in Nashville from Brentwood SC and Tennessee FC, two of the bigger and more successful clubs in the state. Several years prior to this merger in Nashville, FC Alliance was formed in Knoxville combining several strong clubs in the Knoxville area to form one strong club. These two clubs are dominating the state championships at the older ages and their players are getting opportunities to play in events that players in Memphis and the surrounding areas are just not getting as they grow older.
With SC Memphis forming we hope that players from Memphis and the surrounding area will now have more opportunities as they get older to have more successful teams and more opportunities to continue to play and develop at the highest level possible.
